Strengthened Institutions Conduct Fair and Efficient Election Process, Events, Events

As part of the Support to Electoral Reforms project, financed by the Government of Switzerland and implemented by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), with the support of the Women Parliamentarians’ Club, a significant event was organised focused on enhancing political participation and representation of women in North Macedonia. This crucial gathering, “Women’s Representation in Elections and Political Processes in North Macedonia: Lessons Learned and Recommendations for the Parliamentary Elections in 2024,” was held at the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia.

The event was opened with a welcoming address by Lolita Ristova, President of the Women Parliamentarians’ Club, followed by insightful remarks from Ioana Cosma, the Country Director of IFES. The highlight of the event was the presentation of a comprehensive report by Florence Ganou, an international consultant on gender issues.

This report provided an in-depth assessment and proposed recommendations for enhancing women’s political participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections. MPs from different parliamentary groups engaged in an active discussion, contributing to a rich dialogue about the future challenges and opportunities.

This gathering marked a significant stride towards empowering women in the political landscape and ensuring their voices are influential in the democratic processes of North Macedonia.
