This past weekend marked the final workshop with our second generation of Community Mobilizers – and we are proud to say this latest CM cycle ended with a blast! This event marked a coda of many weeks of learning and at the same time a preface to our participants’ real community engagement and mobilization.
Ever under the guidance of experienced trainers, the workshop opened with a review of the best techniques to engage the community to actively seek accountability from elected officials and government representatives. The participants were then familiarized and equipped with additional knowledge on the Innovative Initiative mechanism and its various facets, such as the application and budget forms, as well as an initiative’s aims, objectives and activities.
The participants were then given ample room for inspired individual work towards generating ideas and creating successful applications, which were ultimately presented and given constructive feedback. This in-depth exposure to the 2I mechanism provided the participants with vast knowledge and practical insight into the ways of creating successful initiatives in response to their communities’ needs.
Overall, this latest cycle of workshops has produced another generation of Community Mobilizers equipped with monitoring capacities and the necessary skills to raise awareness and galvanize the community about issues relevant to them and, ultimately, to influence political behavior in the country.
