In the Municipality of Kicevo, children with autism and their families lack access to local specialized services such as early intervention, therapy, educational support, and psychosocial counseling. Currently, families must travel to Skopje, Bitola, or Ohrid, incurring high costs and emotional strain. This service gap hampers children’s development and contributes to social exclusion and parental burnout.
No coordinated municipal effort exists to address these needs, and the issue lacks visibility and planning. This initiative aims to lay the groundwork for an Autism Support Center in Kicevo. Through surveys, expert focus groups, stakeholder consultations, site assessments, and architectural input, it will develop a practical, sustainable concept. A visual plan, action roadmap, and awareness campaign will build community support.
The expected outcome is a concrete proposal to secure institutional backing and funding, advancing inclusive and equitable support for children with autism in Kicevo.
