The Municipality of Demir Kapija, serving 3,777 residents, faces ongoing challenges with transparency, timely information sharing, and inclusive citizen participation. Many residents lack access to up-to-date municipal information and have limited channels to report issues or engage with local authorities. Communication often relies on phone calls or in-person visits, which are inconvenient for those in remote areas, with mobility challenges, or limited time.
A recent focus group revealed citizens feel disconnected from decision-making and seek more accessible, modern ways to interact with the municipality. This disconnect lowers trust, civic engagement, and delays problem resolution.
To address this, the initiative proposes a simple mobile application enabling citizens to report issues with descriptions and photos, submit ideas, contact municipal staff, and receive timely notifications. This tool aims to enhance transparency, accountability, two-way communication, and participatory governance for more efficient community problem-solving.
