Space for All: Creating New Parking Solutions in Debar

The Municipality of Debar faces a growing urban mobility challenge due to a severe shortage of parking spaces. The problem is particularly acute in central areas, where the density of vehicles far exceeds the capacity of existing infrastructure. As a result, cars are frequently parked on sidewalks, green areas, and unmarked spaces, creating traffic congestion, reducing pedestrian safety, and disrupting access to homes and businesses. This situation not only affects residents and daily commuters but also undermines the functioning of local businesses and institutions.

The initiative aims to tackle this issue through comprehensive local research, citizen surveys, and consultations with urban planning and traffic experts. It will collect data on existing parking capacities, analyze patterns of illegal parking, and assess the specific needs of residents, businesses, and vulnerable groups. Based on the findings, a proposed plan with short- and long-term solutions will be developed, including financial estimates and logistical feasibility.

To ensure public engagement, the initiative also includes awareness-raising through a short video and open community meetings. The final output will be a concrete evidence-based proposal, suitable for presentation to the political party or the local institutions, serving as a foundation for future interventions that respond to real community needs and improve urban quality of life.
