23 participants from the youth\u00a0of 10\u00a0political parties in the country\u00a0and one civic initiative,\u00a0took part in the third module of the Academy\u00a0for\u00a0Public Policy\u00a0(APP),\u00a0entitled “You Are Not Alone!” (Thriving in a multi-party and plural world).<\/p>\n
During the\u00a0first\u00a0day, the participants learned\u00a0about\u00a0\u201cUnderstanding the others\/identity politics”. They discuss the importance of inter-ethnic relations in multi-ethnic societies, identity politics beyond ethnic cleavages, cancel culture and its ramifications.<\/p>\n
Whereas, on the second day of this module, the participants attended the following sessions:<\/p>\n
“You are not alone! The Craft of Compromise” participants learned how to communicate with their counterparts in an ever-dividing political context. They also learned about the importance of compromise in a conflicting society, taking into account the interests,\u00a0values and ideology of the others.<\/p>\n
“Oppositions: Encountering the Others”,\u00a0PART I and II were for real-time debating exercises on current topics in politics, challenging the policies-avoiding ad\u00a0hominem confrontations.<\/p>\n
On the last day\u00a0of the workshop, the first session was dedicated to\u00a0the development of policy\u00a0documents and\u00a0community\u00a0engagements.\u00a0During this session,\u00a0the participants\u00a0elaborated on\u00a0the state of the policy documents that they have developed, the\u00a0identified problem in the community\/municipality,\u00a0actions taken by them, expected results and the engagements with the community.\u00a0This assignment, that is being developed since the second workshop of the APP, aims\u00a0at developing\u00a0the participants\u2019\u00a0capacities for evidence-based policy development process, focused on the citizen\u2019s needs. These activities will give the participants an opportunity to apply the gained knowledge and skills, in real life situations and through engagement with citizens.<\/p>\n
At the last\u00a0session, the participants were introduced to\u00a0“Varieties of electoral systems: explaining the nuances”, where participants learned\u00a0about the\u00a0different types of electoral systems’ advantages and disadvantages.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
